Welcome new officers:
The Daytona 500 Party and election meeting was held at the Arnold Bowl this past Sunday and two new officers were elected. Welcome Diana Marburger as Secretary and Brandon Mudd as a Board Member.

Diana and her husband Duane have two girls and live in Pevely, MO. She likes to travel and her favorite driver is Tony Stewart. Duane has a My Space page at www.myspace.com/coupefan.

Brandon is the Director of Public and Media Relations for Gateway International Raceway and the 2008 Outstanding Media award winner from our recent Banquet of Champions. Brandon is already submitting ideas and putting presentations together for the next Board Meeting on March 19. Brandon and his wife, Melodie, have a son and a daughter and live in St. Charles.

Re-elected to office was Mike McGinnitey, Pres., Wanda Knepper as Membership Secretary, and Eileen Waters as a Board Member.

43 rd Annual Banquet of Champions:
The Board has already booked our 43 rd Annual Banquet of Champions for Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Two Hearts Banquet Center on Lindbergh Blvd. at Gravois (across from Sunset Ford). Be certain to save the date.

 

Fan Club Nights:
Mike McGinnitey has already set the date for the Tri-City Speedway Fan Club Night with co-owner Tammy Gundaker for Friday, April 24. That evening Fan Club members presenting their current membership card will be admitted FREE. Thanks to Tammy and Kevin Gundaker!!

The officers and board members are working on getting the other Fan Club Nights dates set as early as possible. They will be announced in upcoming email blasts.

 

Thanks:
Dan Eby has volunteered to Chair the FC Members Only party at the O'Reilly POWRi Midget show at Belle-Clair Speedway. The date has not been set yet.

The 100 Acre Wood Chairman, Tom vonHatten, stopped by the Daytona 500 party and provided 100 Acre Wood souvenirs as attendance prizes.

Upcoming events:
Saturday, March 7 – Final Fan Club general membership meeting until November at Crehan's Irish Pub in Belleville, IL. This has become our traditional Open-Wheel night. This is always a fun evening. We will also vote on the proposed changes to the Constitution and By-Laws.

Wednesday,February 25 – Motocross and Rally America superstar Travis Pastrana will be at the Lou Fusz Subaru dealership in St. Peters ( 4220 N. Service Road, 63376) from 4 – 6 p.m. You'll be able to take photos with Travis, get his autograph and chat.

Friday,February 27 & Saturday, February 28 – Rally America's "Rally in the 100 Acre Wood", headquartered in Salem, MO. Visit www.100aw.org for all the details, the spectator guide, and the spectator locations for this totally FREE event. Ken Block, Tanner Foust, Matthew Johnson, Dave Mirra, and "Cowboy" Kenny Bartram will be competing along with Pastrana. Block is trying to win his fourth 100 Acre Wood in a row. If he does he'll tie the rally legend (and his boss at Vermont Sports Car) John Buffum's record!

Congratulations:
Lori Smith, the PR rep for Germain Racing, which fields teams in the top three NASCAR series, was awarded NASCAR's 2008 Truck Series PR Rep of the Year. She is a native of St. Louis.

Michael McKenna, son of four-time SCCA National Champion Terry McKenna, recently signed a Pro NHL contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Michael has a series of blog pieces on the Norfolk Admirals website. One in particular is all about racing. Check it out at http://www.norfolkadmirals.com/blog_story.php?id=22.

Dennis Schneider, of New Athens, IL had one of the many Corvettes he restores on display recently at the National Corvette Museum in KY. Dennis also races Corvettes with the Sports Car Club of America.

We can use a volunteer to be in charge of Fan Club Nights this summer. You don’t have to call the promoters, the board will do that. What the Fan club Night Chair must do is attend one board meeting and work out with the board what the Fan Club Night will be like (FC table or not—a drawing or not—who makes the 2 nd is Fantastic Award?, etc.) We have some members who have already volunteered to work some of the events. Talk about it with the President at the March 7 meeting. Thanks.
